The Whalefish team hosted our first continued professional development (CPD) course at FCS Millport, Scotland, during the last weekend in August 2015. The IMarEST accredited programme was attended by over 35 delegates from all over the world and from a rich diversity of marine conservation backgrounds. We would like to thank all of our participants for attending the course with such enthusiasm, their participation was invaluable! At Whalefish, we believe that positive change will only happen if we work together.
“The positive outlook of the team members of Whalefish provides a platform for open information exchange and networking.” Whalefish CPD delegate.
The aims of the course were; to share our experiences within research, not-for-profit and commercial sectors, to provide an arena for networking and collaboration, to inspire fellow conservationists to seek out valuable experience and to offer our support in realising professional objectives. We were delighted to receive feedback which illustrated the course had enabled our associates to open their awareness to their own potentials.
“The diversity of the Whalefish team’s skills/knowledge base/areas of work has helped me to realise I don’t have to pigeon hole myself and also how to start building my career.” Whalefish CPD delegate.
In the words of Niru Dorrian, Co-founder of Whalefish, as quoted in Marine Professional Magazine, “To me CPD is the most important thing this decade – it’s not enough to assume that your degree will stay relevant and keep you getting work...You need to show that you are consistently the best candidate if you want the right job and salary.”
Inject your career with the passion which drives you to accomplish your objectives and realise job satisfaction is not as elusive as it may seem!
